ZAHAQ LONDON COLLEGE
Visa Information

Overseas Students

If you are from outside the UK (or the EU), you may need to apply for a student VISA to attend our courses. For further information please contact us (info@zahaqlondon.com)  or visit the Home Office website at www.ukvisas.gov.uk

Applying for a Student VISA
In order to apply for a student VISA, you will need to enroll onto one of our full time training programmes and book at least three courses (subjects).

Once you are enrolled, we will issue you with the acceptance letters, which will be sent to you by either normal post or by courier - the choice is yours.

On receiving the acceptance letters, you should apply for your VISA at the local British High Commission.  As part of this process you must be able to:

  • Show that you can pay for your full course of study and support, and accommodate yourself and any dependants without working or without help from the UK public funds such as Income Support; and
  • Show evidence that you plan to leave the United Kingdom when you have completed your studies.
Please note:

1.       We strongly recommend that you book for the whole programme as this provide evidence to the British High Commission that you are a serious student.

2.       The British High Commission often only issue visas for the length of your course - if you book for less than the whole programme, your visa may need to be extended once you are in the UK. To extend your visa The Home Office charges a fee of £155 (minimum). This amount is expected to be considerably increased in the near future.

3.       We strongly recommend that you take and achieve at least Level 6 on the IELTS  (International English Language Testing System) - This is a 2 hour 45 minutes exam and can be taken at the British Council.  This will provide evidence to the British High Commission of your level of English.  Poor English is a major reason for student VISA refusal.

Extending your Student VISA
If you are already studying in the United Kingdom, you can apply to extend your stay as a student.  We are able to help you with this.

You will need to:
  • Complete an IND (FRLS) form - on which we or your previous place of study will confirm your attendance for your previous term
  • Enroll with us for at least three courses (subjects), paying either full fees or a deposit and we will provide you with a letter to the Home Office for your VISA extension application.

Working whilst on a Student VISA
You may take part-time or holiday work but you must not:

  • Work for more than 20 hours a week during term time, unless your work placement is part of your studies and your educational establishment agrees;
  • Do business, be self-employed or provide services as a professional support person or entertainer;
  • Work full time in a permanent job.
